The program “Bachelor of Arts in German as a Foreign Language” at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich runs over six semesters. The goal of the course is to impart fundamental knowledge and skills for dealing with the issues that arise when a foreigner studies German as a foreign language. The curriculum includes an Overview lecture on language acquisition and multilingualism research, an Introduction to the didactics of language and culture mediation, Theories of language teaching and language learning research, and Language processing and language acquisition. To apply,  prospective students must present a university entrance qualification. Graduates pursue a career as teachers, translators, writers, journalists, researchers, business consultants, international relations officers and more.
