The program “Master of Arts in Japanese Studies” at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich has a length of four semesters. The training aims to build on the already knowledge and competencies acquired from the undergraduate degree. The language of instruction is German, with some language courses in Japanese and individual courses in English. The syllabus contains Reading and translation of Japanese texts, Introduction to classical Japanese, Selected Topics in Japan Research, Advanced Classical Japanese, Introduction to Sino-Japanese, Technical language society and other subjects. To apply, prospective students must have a bachelor’s degree in Japanese studies.
