The program "Bachelor of Arts in Old Orient" at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich has a continuation of six semesters. The goal of the course is to examine the ancient cultures of the Near East from the perspectives of archaeology, history and philology. The curriculum includes History and Religion of the Ancient Orient I: Mesopotamia, Introduction to Near Eastern Archaeology, Akkadian, Scripts of the Ancient Orient I: From the Invention of Writing to the Alphabet, Near Eastern Archaeology, Historical and Religious Texts, and other subjects. To apply, candidates must present a university entrance qualification. Graduates find employment in research, education, monument preservation, museums, publishing, tourism or research institutions.
