The extension program “Medical Research” at Medical University of Graz is with a length of 2 part-time semesters. It provides students with foundational information and basic competences in basic medical research and clinical research, with the goal of allowing them to build professional competencies for their future jobs. Students are prepared for the doctoral program (in medical science or the PhD program) and become capable of autonomously approaching work on current scientific problems and so conducting research projects, based on the university's basic premise of research-guided education. Fundamentals of scientific research, Science Communication and other subjects are part of the curriculum. Admission to the medicine or dentistry degree program and successful completion of the required modules in the first 3 years of the medicine or dentistry program, a Bachelor's degree in medicine or dentistry or completion of a degree program in medicine or dentistry are admission prerequisites.
