Description

Acting is the art of telling stories and adopting the role of a character in theatre, film, television, radio and other media. Actors convey emotions and share characters’ journeys through speech, movements and expressions, and connect to the audience through their work. The aim of a degree in Acting is to help students develop their individual abilities through specialized theoretical and practical training. Acting courses include subjects like Acting Methodology, Theatre Production, Audition Techniques, Movement, Voice Production, Costuming, Improvisation and various approaches and acting techniques. Many practical assignments are provided during the course, so that students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have gained. A good actor needs a range of skills like stage presence, confidence, energy, and creative insight, the ability to memorize lines, engage the audience, apply dramatic techniques and enter different characters. Acting is a competitive and challenging field, so graduates need to be able to work hard, go to numerous auditions, face rejection and stay determined to become successful. Apart from a career as an actor, graduates can also find work in other parts of the creative sector – drama therapist, theatre director, administrator and more.
