The study program “Master of Arts in Medical and Health Education” at the Medical School Hamburg, is geared towards individuals who have a degree in academic disciplines such as Medicine, Medical Pedagogy, Medical Management, Therapeutic Sciences, or Nursing. The course of studies encourages students to learn more about systematic teaching concepts. Those who have already had some experience in teaching are able to improve their knowledge in specific topics and advance their professional skills. A wide range of concepts, theories, methods and practical exercises are taught in the compulsory modules. Students familiarize themselves with the processes of teaching and learning as well as the structured planning of classroom sessions in the field of health-related and medical degrees. Moreover, they are allowed to choose between the two elective modules Patient Training and Educational Management. The qualifications graduates have obtained include the ability to teach independently, develop teaching strategies based on research and evidence, as well as plan, conduct and evaluate patient trainings. After graduation, participants of the program can assume teaching or managerial positions at health institutions.
