Description
The study program “Master of Science in Sport Psychology” at the Medical School Hamburg gives a chance to candidates who have successfully completed a relevant Bachelor’s degree program to obtain further knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate better performances by individuals and teams. Emphasis is put on training of independent and self-led academic research and evidence-based practical work in all fields of sport psychology. In order to be prepared for future positions, students familiarize themselves with psychological approaches to clinically relevant disorders likely to emerge in the context of high-performance sport. Apart from this, they also develop in-depth skills on sport sciences, sports medicine and performance diagnostics. Furthermore, the course of studies examines the key concepts of leadership and change in individuals and teams in high performance sports. The elective modules include sport psychological training guidance and mental relaxation techniques as well as team leadership and team development. Practical teamwork is encouraged through interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary hands-on projects. After graduation students have the competencies to work in health- and rehabilitation sport-related areas.
