The Muthesis University of Fine Arts and Design, founded in 2005, is a public art school seated in Kiel and funded by the German federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. It provides artistic and creative education to approximately 600 students in the fields of Art, Spatial Strategies, Industrial Design, and Communication Design. Prospective students are offered degree programsat both Bachelor’s and Master’s level. At Bachelor’s level, the University offers the following degree courses: “Fine Arts“ (B.F.A.), “Secondary School Teacher Education in Art“ (B.Ed.), “Communication Design“ (B.A.), “Scenography/Interior Design“ (B.A.), and “Industrial Design“ (B.A.). On offer at Master’s level are the study courses “Fine Arts“ (M.F.A., concentrations: Sculpture, Painting, Drawing and Graphics, Media Art and Ceramics), “Teaching Education in Fine Arts“ (M.Ed.), “Communication Design“ (M.A.), “Industrial Design/Interface Design“ (M.A.), “Industrial Design/Medical Design“ (M.A.), as well as “Spatial Strategies“ (M.A.). The Muthesis University of Fine Arts and Design also provides the opportunity to obtain a doctorate. Prerequisite for studying at the University is the completion of an aptitude test.
