Paderborn Faculty of Theology is a state-approved ecclesiastical institution of higher education seated in Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia. Founded by Prince Bishop Dietrich IV. von Fürstenberg in 1614 as a Jesuit university, it is the oldest institution of its kind thoughout the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The Faculty is sponsored by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Paderborn. It currently provides study opportunities to almost 100 students. The range of studies offered includes the ten-semester Magister degree program “Catholic Theology“ (Mag.Theol.), which is divided into a six-semester period of basic studies in Theology, Philosophy and Psychology as well as a four-semester intensification phase, and a Licentiate and doctoral program (Dr. theol.). Paderborn Faculty of Theology also provides the opportunity for postdoctoral studies.
