Paracelsus Private Medical University, in cooperation with Umbrella association Hospice Austria and St. Virgil Salzburg, offers the part-time university course “Master of Science in Palliative Care” to doctors, nurses, social, psychology, and physiotherapy workers, pastoral and terminally-ill carers. It spans a duration of seven semesters, combining attendance and distance modules. The aim of the course, apart from training experts, ready to react in situations of dealing with seriously-ill patients, is to unite them into a professional network, where the expertise of each one is added for achieving the final result. In this respect, the interdisciplinary methodology is tightly embedded in the program, so subject-specific areas meet the socio-psychological aspect in building a coherent, comprehensive professional knowledge and competence during the course. The last semester ends in a master’s thesis, and the studies are regulated by the terms and conditions of the apprenticeship contract signed between the university and the student.
