The conception of the academic course “Psychiatric Health Care and Nursing”, imparted in collaboration by two renowned academic institutions - Paracelsus Private Medical University and Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, comes to address the need for specially trained personnel for the care of the psychiatric patients. Scientific basis and practical experience are not the only prerequisites for the profession, it is also extremely relevant to have the necessary empathy and communicative insight when attending those patients. These skills are worked upon along the three semesters of the course, focused on the aspects of the nursing care for particular groups of patients – disabled ones, mentally ill, people with neurological diseases, elderly, multi-morbid, geriatric psychiatry ones. The successful completion of the course leads to obtaining the Academic Expert Certificate of psychiatric Health and Nursing.
