The state-recognized study program ”Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Deaconry” offered by Protestant University for Social Work and Deaconry provides a comprehensive knowledge in the scientific foundations as well as in theories. It also puts an emphasize on the connection between theory and practice. The curriculum is compound of 11 modules. The following four central profiles are used to create the study content: Diaconal Theology, Social conditions of social work & diakonia, subject and cooperation, and Fields of Practice and Professional Profile of Social Work & Diakonia. Incorporated into the program, there is an internship, lasting 36 weeks, which students do in the 3rd and 4th semesters. There is an option for the participants to get a church qualification as a deacon. Graduates hold the undergraduate degree “Bachelor of Arts Social Work”. Moreover, they receive a certificate of state recognition as social pedagogues and social workers upon completion of the program.
