The Rheinische Fachhochschule Cologne provides the stud program “Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics” - a combination of computer science and business administration. In any industry, trade, services, or admministration that integrates IT in its processes, there is a need for better understanding the essence of the technical side of informatics in order to perform the management tasks concerning the connection between the product and its end users inside the company. Business Informatics specialists will be trained exactly this – not pure programming, but management with a notion of the specifics that the job of the computer scientist entails, and thus being able to react to any problem in that ambit. There are full-time and part-time versions of the course, the former being six, and the latter - seven semesters long. Sceintific foundations of the subject matter are brought to real life through the task-based seminars, where lecturers interact with students in a cooperative approach, based on practical performance training.
