The Rheinische Fachhochschule Cologne’s “Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering: Mechanical Engineering” degree is a six-semester full-time, and eight-semester part-tim, plus one practical semester degree. It combines the purely technical and scientific knowledge with notions on management and sales, and also leadership and soft-skill. It is a practice-focused degree and gives preparation for entering the manufacturing industry or service-companies. Knowledge in the course of studies aims to prepare generalists, rather than single-field experts. All necessary knowledge for that purpose is given during the degree – technology, organization, dealing with the human factor, decision-making, creative solutions, as well as presentation and communication skills. Corporate governance positions, as well as sales, marketing, consulting, project management in the energy, automation, production and technology fields are anticipated with this degree.
