Together with the British Loughborough University, the Rheinische Fachhochschule Cologne organizes a part-time PhD course with an engineering profile. It extends throughout four years and the areas of research are Automotive and Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Companies like Caterpillar, Rolls Royce and Ford have been research partners of the Loughborough Univerity. The degree is designed to include at least two one-week stays at LU for each academic year. The rest of the time, a university professor from RFH will advise onsite, and a network of academic peers will be in support of the research projects to be developed.
