The study program “Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science” offered at the Ruhr University Bochum public university provides a full-time mono-bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who wish to pursue a career as software developers, IT consultants or trainers. The interdisciplinary approach of the Bachelor program aims at providing students with the fundamental methods and theories in the field of natural sciences and mathematics. Participants could deepen their understandings of a particular subfield by choosing to specialize in one of the areas that are being offered. Those are namely Engineering Informatics, Bioinformatics, Computational Linguistics, Cryptology and Theoretical Informatics, Neuroinformatics and Operations Research. The possibility of completing an internship program provides students with the possibility to develop different field-related skills, such as the ability to think analytically and to independently find solutions to a complex subject matter.
