The study program “Master of Arts in Art History” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time combined master course with a duration of four semesters. This program is targeted towards those who would like to deepen the academic knowledge in the field of art history methods and discourses that they have acquired during their Bachelor degree. The Master program allows participants to focus their field of investigation on a particular subdiscipline. Students could choose from a range of specialized modules, some of which are “Understandings of Cultural Heritage”, Expertise and Method Canon and Autonomous Compilation of Current Scientific Position” and “Problems Pertaining to Historical Eras, their Boundaries and the Crossing of Boundaries”. Participants are strongly encouraged to take part in exchange programs abroad, as well as to gain practical experience by completing an internship at a related cultural institution.
