The study program “Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Economics and Politics” offered at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum public university provides a full-time mono-bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who would like to seek a career path in which an academic overview of the current socio-political practices of the East Asian region is required. The practice-oriented teaching approach of the Bachelor program aims at encouraging students to think analytically and creatively when studying the economic and political circumstances that shape and are shaped by the different states of the region. Additionally, the role that these conditions play in the global perspective, as well as the way they impact the development of the societies there are closely examined. Participants are required to either take part in a two-month exchange program at an accredited university in the region in which they could practice their newly acquired language skills, or they could choose to complete an eight-week internship.
