The study program “Master of Arts in German Studies” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time mono-master course with a duration of four semesters. This program is targeted towards prospective students who intend to pursue a professional career in cultural and educational institutions where academic knowledge of German philology is required. The Master program aims at the academic acquisition of the evolution of the German language over the centuries and the various factors that have led to these changes. In addition, the scholarly examination of literary pieces of work, from the Middles Ages to the present, in the cultural realm from which they originate plays a central role in the field. During their studies, students are required to complete an internship as part of the compulsory module.
