The study program “Bachelor of Science in Mathematics” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time combined bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who would like to either pursue a career path in scholarly institutions in which academic knowledge of mathematical methods and principles is required or those who wish to find employment in the educational sector. The Bachelor program aims at deepening students’ understandings and analytical thinking in a wide range of subdisciplines. Participants are provided with the opportunity to focus their attention and research on a particular subfield. They could choose to specialize in one of the following modules “Algebra, Topology and Algebraic geometry”, Stochastics, Statistics and Mathematical Physics”, “Differential Geometry / Dynamic Systems”, “Complex Analysis”, “Numerical Mathematics”, “Cryptography”, or “Theoretical / Practical Computer Science”. Participating in an exchange program at a partner university abroad, for a maximum of two terms, is highly recommended.
