The study program “Master of Arts in Media Studies” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time combined master course with a duration of four semesters. This program is targeted towards prospective students with an academic degree in the field of Media and Communication Studies and/or Film and Television Studies. Amongst other topic-related themes, the Master’s program aims at the thorough academic exploration of the media’s role in generating and disseminating new knowledge. The program offers three main modules of specialization - “Media Aesthetics and History”, “Media Pragmatics”, and “Gender and Media”. Participants who wish to acquire practical experience in their field of interest could do so by completing an internship at a cultural organization or media enterprise.
