The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time combined bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who would like to find employment in journalism, film and television or media businesses. The interdisciplinary teaching approach of the Bachelor program aims to provide students with the fundamental knowledge of media theories and notions so that they could academically examine the complex relationship between media practices and other cultural discourses. Throughout their studies, participants are provided with the opportunity to work on various cultural issues regarding (new) media practices, such as the ways in which the visual medium shapes and is shaped by societal occurrences. The program highlights the importance of taking part in studying abroad programs at partner universities, as well as doing an internship at related media organizations.
