The study program “Master of Arts in Media Studies” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time mono-master course with a duration of four semesters. This program is targeted towards prospective students with an academic degree in the field of Media and Communication Studies and/or Film and Television Studies. The aim of the Master’s program is to deepen students’ knowledge of the subject matter which they have acquired during their previous studies. This is done by encouraging them to develop problem-solving techniques to raising issues concerning the role of media in today’s modern society. In addition, concepts such as the function that the visual medium has played in the formation of the contemporary cultural canon are carefully reviewed. The program strongly recommends participation in exchange programs abroad with accredited higher institutions.
