The study program “Master of Arts in Oriental Islamic Studies” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time mono-master course with a duration of four semesters. This program is an ideal continuation for postgraduates with a related Bachelor’s degree who wish to deepen their academic competencies in a particular subfield. The aim of the Master’s program is to go in-depth with the historical, cultural and political circumstances that have contributed to the widespread of Islam as a religion. In addition, participants are allowed to further develop their language skills in one of the Arabic languages. Preconditions to applying for this program are proof of English language certificate, as well as proficiency in one Arabic language, amounting to at least level A2. Before starting their studies, students must also demonstrate a proficiency certificate in either Latin, Greek or Hebrew.
