The study program “Master of Arts in Protestant Theology” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time combined master course with a duration of four semesters. This program is targeted towards postgraduates with a relevant previous academic background who are motivated to pursue a career in cultural and religious institutions where academic knowledge of Protestant religious practices is required. Students are provided with the opportunity to gain an extensive understanding of a particular subdiscipline by following one of the major modules that the program offers. Some of the specialist courses are “Theology and Hermeneutics of the Old Testament”, “Fundamental Theological Questions in the History of Christianity”, “Dogmatic Orientation and Ethical Judgment”, as well as “Theory of Religious and Church Approaches”. A prerequisite to applying for this program is proof of Greek or Hebrew language proficiency.
