The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Romance Studies” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time combined bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who would like to either seek a professional career in international organizations in which academic knowledge of Romance philology is required or those who wish to find employment in educational institutions. The Bachelor program aims at providing students with the core notions of examining philological practices in the context of Romance studies, from a literary, linguistic and cultural perspective. With the help of a student advisor, participants are allowed to follow some of the courses in either Italian, French or Spanish. A certificate of language proficiency is therefore a prerequisite to starting the program. Participants are also required to take part in an exchange program with an accredited higher institution abroad.
