The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Sinology” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time combined bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who are interested in pursuing a professional career at international organizations in which academic knowledge of Chinese history, literature, language and culture is required. The aim of the Bachelor program is to explore ancient Chinese cultural practices and doctrines in terms of the historical development that has led to their transformation into their current version. In addition, students participate in intensive language courses in modern and pre-modern Chinese. Spending a year abroad at a Chinese partner university is highly advisable.
