The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Slavonic Studies” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time combined bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who would like to either seek a professional career in international organizations in which academic knowledge of Slavonic philology is required or who wish to find employment in educational institutions. The particular focus on the Russian and Polish language, literature and culture provides students with the unique opportunity to academically explore the advancement of Eastern Europe after the fall of Communism, for example, and its complex relationship with the Western world thereafter. Students may choose from a range of modules to specialize in. Some of these are namely, “Slavic Languages,” “Russian and Polish Literature and Culture, “Works of Art and Their Functionality” and “Multilingualism and Language Acquisition”.
