The study program “Master of Arts in Social Sciences” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time combined master course with a duration of four semesters. This program is suitable for prospective students with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Political Science or Cultural Psychology who wish to build a professional career in corporate management and consulting, administration and politics, or market and opinion research. The aim of the Master’s program is to further develop participants’ academic understandings of the subject matter while enabling them to acquire expertise in a particular subdiscipline of their choice. The major modules that students could choose to specialize in are “Political Science”, “Sociology”, and “Social Theory and Cultural Psychology”. In addition, during the degree, participants are required to complete a two-month internship at a relevant scientific corporation. In order to properly select their second subject, students are required to attend an interview with the faculty’s counsellor.
