The study program “Master of Education in Social Sciences” offered at Ruhr University Bochum provides a full-time master course with a duration of four semesters. The Master’s program is suitable for prospective students with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences who are motivated to start a professional career as teachers at secondary schools or gymnasiums. This program is the final step that participants must complete before beginning their preparatory service at educational institutions. The aim of the Master’s program is to provide participants with scientific expertise in the three core subfields of the program, namely “Political Science”, “Sociology”, and “Economics”. In addition, the modules on didactic methodology train students on how to figure out solution techniques to unexpected challenges in their future workplace. Completion of a one-semester internship at a relevant educational institution is required.
