The seven-semester study program “Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy” offered by SRH University Heidelberg prepares students with the needed knowledge and competencies to work as occupational therapists. The course of study consists of a dual certification that includes both an academic degree in occupational therapy and state recognition as an occupational therapist. Throughout the program students gain knowledge in the foundation of medicine, psychology and social sciences. Furthermore, students gain understanding of the scientific grounds of occupation therapy as well as tried and new therapeutic approaches. Incorporated there are internships, starting form the first semester, which provide rigorous practical instruction. During the whole course of study, students complete at least 1700 hours of internship. Graduates of the program have a wide range of fields they can go and build careers in, such as rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, retirement and nursing homes, etc. They can also choose to open their own practice.
