The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, founded in 1855, is a public university seated in Zurich. It has another site in Hönggerberg. The Instiute is considered one of the best unuversities worldwide. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology is organized into 16 departments: the Department of Architecture, the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, the Department of Biosystem Science and Engineering, the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering, the Department of Materials, the Department of Biology, the Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences, the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Physics, the Department of Earth Sciences, the Department of Environmental Systems Science, the Department of Health Sciences and Technology, the Department of Management, Technology and Economics, as well as the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences. More than 19,200 currently attend 23 Bachelor programs and 42 Master programs at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. In addition to the conventional range of studies offered, a broad range of continuing education opportunities are offered as well, such as 19 MAS and MBA programs, 18 CAS programs, 7 DAS programs, some 50 advanced education courses, as well as individually tailored in-house courses. In partnership with the University of Zurich, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology also provides 16 doctoral programs.
