The Technical University of Dortmund, founded in 1968, is the second public technical university within North Rhine-Westphalia alongside RWTH Aachen University. It currently has a total of more than 34,000 students (with 3,700 students from approximately 120 countries) enrolled in round about 80 Bachelor and Master degree programs. The scope of studies includes both conventional subjets and innovative study offers which are unique throughout Germany such as the study programs “Spatial Planing“, “Journalism“, and “Statistics“. The University breaks down into 16 faculties: the Faculty of Mathematics, the Faculty of Physics, the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, the Faculty of Computer Science, the Faculty of Statistics, the Faculty of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, the Faculty of Spatial Planning, the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Business and Economics, the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Sociology, the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences, the Faculty of Human Sciences and Theology, the Faculty of Cultural Studies, the Faculty of Arts and Sports Sciences. Technical University of Dortmund is one of the few universities in Germany to provide the opportunity to obtain teacher education programs for all types of school. The University’s educational portfolio is complemented by varied continuative studies ranging from supplementary and certificate studies to extra-occupational programs. Studying at the Technical University of Dortmund without higher education entrance qualification is possible upon completion of an admission test or a placement test, respectively.
