The TH Georg Agricola University of Applied Sciences, founded in 1816 as a miners‘ school, is a state-recognized institution of higher education seated in Bochum. It is privately sponsored by the DMT-Gesellschaft für Lehre und Bildung mbH (DMT-LB). The scope of study offerings includes Bachelor and Master degree programs at three faculties: the Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering, Mining and Technical Business Management, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Material Sciences, and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Business Engineering. The Faculty of Geotechnical Engineering, Mining and Technical Business Management comprises the Bachelor degree programs “Mineral Resource Engineering“, Geotechnical Engineering and Applied Geology“, “Process Engineering“, and “Surveying“, as well as the Master degree programs “Geoengineering and Post-mining“, and “Mineral Resource and Process Engineering“. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Material Sciences includes the Bachelor degree programs “Mechanical Engineering“, and “Appplied Materials Science“, as well as the Master degree program “Mechanical Engineering“. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Business Engineering provides the opportunity to study the Bachelor programs “Electrical Engineering and Information Technology“, and “Technical Business Management“, as well as the Master programs “Electrical Engineering and Information Technology“, “Operational Safety Management“, and “Technical Business Management“. Some of the study programs offered can be completed on an extra-occupational basis or in parallel with an apprenticeship. Depending on the respective degree program, graduates receive a B.Eng., B.Sc., M.Eng., and M.Sc. The TH Georg Agricola University of Applied Sciences accomodates approximately 2,300 students.
