The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Game Design”, offered by University of Europe for Applied Sciences in English and German, explores the tools and methods used in the game medium on a professional level. The course of studies is focused on developing comprehension and mastery of game design, programming and art. Students acquire the necessary theoretical grounds and work on practical projects with top partners from the gaming industry. They are given the opportunity to create innovative game mechanics and shape game narratives. All the important steps in the creation of a new game are included, from the first prototype for the game concept to its further development and design. Furthermore, the program broadens students’ knowledge of the economy, culture and markets around computer games. Renowned lecturers from the gaming industry work with small groups, with emphasis put on individual development. Being well-trained with proven game creation skills, individuals may choose to pursue positions as game designers, game artists, game programmers, or gaming journalists.
