University of Applied Sciences for Finances Brandenburg, founded in 1991, is an institution of public administration seated in Königs Wusterhausen and sponsored by the Federal State of Brandenburg. Round about 600 students currently undergo a three-year training program that is designed to prepare them for a civil service career in the upper intermediate service of tax administration, and is carried out both at the School and various tax offices. The study program breaks down into seven subject areas. The first subject area includes the subjects of Income Tax and Business Tax, as well as International Tax Law and EU Tax Harmonization. The second subject area comprises the subjects of Tax Law (Tax Code, Criminal Tax Law and Code of Procedure of Fiscal Courts, Enforcement Law), as well as Administrative Studies, and Information and Knowledge Management. The third subject area covers the subjects of Valuation Law and Capital Taxation (Valuation, Inheritance Tax and Land Transfer Tax), as well as Taxation of Companies (concentration: Corporate Tax). The fourth subject area includes the subjects of Tax Accounting Law (notably, Corporate Accounting, Tax Auditing, and Economic Crime), Operational Data Collection and Data Processing, as well as Business Studies. The fifth subect area contains the subject of Revenue Tax. Included in the sixth subject area are the following subjects: Private Law (Civil Law, Securities Law and Insolvency Law, Commercial and Corporate Law), Methodology of Law Application, and Public Law (concentrations: Constitutional Law, General Theory of the State, European Law, Administrative Law, and Public Services Law). The seventh subject area is made up of the subjects of Sociological Foundation of Administrative Action, as well as Labor and Self-Organization (including Administrative Management). Graduates of University of Applied Sciences for Finances Brandenburg receive a „Diplom-Finanzwirt (FH)“ degree.
