The University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration in North Rhine-Westphalia, founded in 1976, is a public school of administration seated in Gelsenkirchen. It has further locations in Hagen, Dortmund, Duisburg, Cologne, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Münster, and Bielefeld. The University trains around 12.000 students in higher public administrative and police services. Prospective students are offered Bachelor and Master degree programs in two departments, namely police and general administration/pension insurance. The scope of Bachelor programs includes the degree programs “Law Enforcement“ (B.A.), “Municipal Administration – General Administration“ (LL.B.), “Municipal Administration – Public Management“ (B.A.), “Public Administration – General Administration“ (LL.B.), and “Pension Insurance“ (LL.B.). Alle study programs are dual programs offered in collaboration with the appropriate bodies. At Master’s level, one can choose between the five-semester extra-occupational degree program “Master of Public Management“ (MPM), the extra-occupational degree program “Business Administration for New Public Management“ (MBA, offered in partnership with the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts), and the continuing education program “Human Resource Management“ (MPM, offered in collaboration with the Akademie der Ruhr-Universität and Ruhr University Bochum).
