The “Bachelor of Sciences in Ophthalmic Optics/Optometry” program at the University of Applied Sciences Jena has a duration of six semesters. Students acquire biomedical and technical knowledge. The course curriculum includes the subjects Anatomy and Physiology of the Eye, Basics of ophthalmic optics, Basics of measurement technology, Optometry I (refraction determination), Geometric optics, Business studies for ophthalmic optics/optometry and others. Graduates become high-level specialists and could pursue a career in different areas of industry, medicine, optical, business and research industry. The main entrance requirements are a general university entrance qualification (Abitur) or a university entrance qualification in a specific subject.
