The seven-semester “Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics” at the University of Applied Sciences in Würzburg-Schweinfurt is an English-taught program. The requirements are a completed six-week pre-study internship, level A2 of German and B2 for English. The overall orientation of the studies is generalist, combining electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and software development knowledge. Since students will be preparing for eventual management positions, the focus on soft skills, interpersonal competence, and personnel organization and leadership are also deeply rooted into the curriculum. The distribution of the semesters is into three basic, two advanced, one for internship and practical tasks, and one for project work and bachelor’s thesis. The practical modules are performed in modern laboratories, the cooperation with the industry is tight, and the consideration of present day-issues of environment and sustainable development are also part of the competences of the young professional graduates.
