The degree program “Bachelor of Engineering in Robotics” is meant to be completed in seven semesters at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt. The German degree course is an avant-garde study program, which evolved out of the cooperation work between FHWS and representatives of the industry branches concerned. This is why the teaching method is primarily focused on acquiring practical skills, and explaining these through the scientific relevant principles of the systems involved. The basic course extends over the first four semesters. It teaches computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering, plus soft skills. Then comes the practice semester, whose purpose is to demonstrate the application of the knowledge imparted. The sixth and seventh are for the professional advanced studies and the bachelor’s thesis. Industry 4.0, AI, cross-section activities, and the methodology of “learning by doing” are the principles embedded in the study.
