Description
Through a seven-semester program of studies at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt, the degree “Bachelor of Arts in Social Work” is obtained. There is a requirement for a pre-study internship. The necessity for such a degree stems from the complex processes in the welfare state and their management. The university title will be a demonstration for the acquired knowledge of the scientific principles and methods lying behind social science and the actions which it entails. Empirical testing and proof will support the behavior-oriented approach. The Global Standards for Social Work education and Training stands behind the content and approach of the studies. The curriculum has a basic part in the four semesters from the beginning, the fifth is dedicated to an internship, the sixth and seven are for the major specialization, which can be in any of the following areas: Development and support in early childhood, Assistance to the endangered/rehabilitation, Health aid, Youth and adult education, Child, youth and family aid, Music therapy in social work, Social work in the migration society, Social work in the aging society, Social work with mentally ill and addicts, Social work and disability. In the last semester students write a research-based thesis.
