The artistic study program “Visual Communication’’ is a full-time course with a duration of ten semesters offered at the University of Art Kassel. The project-based study program aims to give extensive knowledge about the design of our social reality and to inspire a broad practical, analytical, and critical way of thinking. The structure of the program combines theory and practice and focuses on the individuals’ own design perspective and work techniques in addition to teaching the importance of teamwork across the different specializations. The first year is composed of obligatory courses, followed by elective classes. In the end, each student has to successfully pass a final project and a final project defense that includes a mixture of theory and practice.
