The University of Bamberg is a public university seated in Bamberg, Bavaria. Established as an academy in 1647, it belongs to the oldest institutions of higher education in Germany. About 13,000 students are enrolled in approximately 30 Bachelor and 50 (partially English-language) Master degree programs. The University is organized in four faculties: humanities; social sciences, economics, and business administration; human sciences and education; as well as information systems and applied computer sciences. Nearly all study programs can also be studied on a part-time basis. The University of Bamberg offers a wide range of international study programs, among them the double degree programs “Business Administration“, “European Economic Studies“, “Philosophy“, “Political Science“ and “Sociology“, as well as the English-language programs “Governance and International Politics“, “Political Science & Economics and Politics of Contemporary Eastern and Southeastern Europe“, “Sociology and Demography“, “Sociology and Social Research“, “Educational Quality in Developing Countries“, “English and American Studies“, “General Linguistics“, and “International Software Systems Science“. Moreover, people with vocational qualifications are provided under certain conditions with the opportunity of completing a study program at the University of Bamberg even without a higher education entrance qualification.
