The University of Bayreuth, founded in 1972 as the seventh Baviarian state university, is a public university in Bavaria. It accomodates round about 13,500 students, and breaks down in six faculties: the faculty of mathematics, physics & computer science, the faculty of biology, chemistry & earth sciences, the faculty of law, business & economics, the faculty of languages & literature, the faculty of cultural studies, and the faculty of engineering science. In accordance with the University’s guiding principle, many study programs have an interdisciplinary orientation (e.g., “Health Economics“, “Sport, Business and Law“, “International Economics and Development“, “Philosophy and Economics“, “Global Change Ecology“, “Polymer & Colloid Chemistry“, “Applied Computer Science“). International Economics and Development“. Aside from full-time Bachelor and Master programs, the Univeristy of Bayreuth also offers extra-occupational programs. They include the two degree programs “Master of Business Administration in Sports Management“, and “MBA Health Care Management“. Another study format offered is module studies, where students can study individual modules from Bachelor and Master programs. Last but not least, the University provides all students with the opportunity of studying the supplementary programs “Teaching German as a Foreign Language“ and “Theatre Education“.
