The University of Bonn, founded by King Friedrich-Wilhelm III of Prussia in 1818, is a public university seated in Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia. Accomodating round about 36,000 students (including 4,000 international students), the University of Bonn is one of Germany’s largest and most prestigious universities. In line with its international orientation, it has several partnerships with foreign universities and research institutions. Since the University of Bonn is not a campus university, it spreads over several locations in the city area. The scope of study offerings includes undergraduate and postgraduate study opportunities, which are run at seven faculties: the Faculty of Catholic Theology, the Faculty of Protestant Theology, the Faculty of Law and Economics, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and the Faculty of Agriculture. To facilitate study entrance, the University of Bonn carries out preparatory courses in Protestant Theology, Catholic Theology, Humanities and Social Science, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and Economics.
