Description
The “Master of Arts in Ancient Languages and Cultures/Historical-Comparative Linguistics” program at the University of Cologne increases students’ understanding of Latin and Greek, particularly from a linguistic, language-historical, and literary-historical standpoint. Students gain understanding of ancient Indo-European languages through another language course, systematic knowledge in all sub-areas of Indo-European grammar and reconstruction, and training for autonomous and methodical, methodologically justified scientific work over the course of 4 semesters. Admission requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Historical-Comparative Linguistics, 40 relevant CP, Greek to the extent of Graecum, Latin to the extent of Latinum and English at B2 level.
