The University of Cologne's "Master of Education in Art" program has a study profile for special education teachers. A variety of lectures and extensive practical training are used to give technical and didactic skills throughout the course of four full-time semesters. A practical semester of at least 5 months in the chosen themes and a kind of school that matches the anticipated teaching employment is completed during the second semester of the master's degree. A Bachelor's degree with "suitable teaching certification" and "compatible" disciplines, as well as verification of 144 relevant credit points from completed courses, are required for admission.
