Description
The “Master of Arts in Comparative Studies” program at the University of Cologne is with a length of 4 full-time semesters. The course is distinguished by its emphasis on philological text interpretation and theoretical study, as well as its historical scope, which spans antiquity to the current day. Students gain the capacity to blend language, literature, and cultural analogies as their mastery of a foreign language grows. They are also trained to evaluate historical and present communication processes as well as multicultural articulations critically. Students will be exposed to the links between media and cultural environments with an emphasis on media storage and transmission systems. Admission requirements include a Philological or literary studies course with at least 12 CP in literary studies, and knowledge of two of the following foreign languages at level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference: Bosnian/Croatian/Montenegrin/Serbian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Danish, English, Finnish, French, Classical Greek, Icelandic, Italian, Latin, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish.
