The “Master of Arts in English Studies” program at the University of Cologne is with a length of 4 full-time semesters. The course is designed to provide a comprehensive scientific and research-based education in English linguistics and Anglophone literatures and cultures. Students are involved in ongoing research initiatives, among other things, in order to establish scientific independence and be able to actively explore their own future professional activities. Knowledge of Latin to the extent of the small Latinum or knowledge of another foreign language are part of the admission requirements. If the other foreign language is a modern European foreign language, knowledge at level A2 is required, and in the case of classical or non-European languages knowledge analogous to this language level.
