The degree program “Bachelor of Arts in French” is offered by University of Cologne with a standard duration of 6 semesters. The program must be combined with another subject. During the course, a stay abroad of at least three months is compulsory in the teacher training course. However, if two modern foreign languages are being studied, the stay abroad only has to be completed in one of the two language areas. In addition, the curriculum conveys language practice and basic technical knowledge as well as skills in linguistics, literature, cultural and media studies. In order to enroll, level B1 in French is required, level A2 GER in another language, as well as a sufficient knowledge of English.
